Grocery Store Item

My adventure to the grocery store lead me down the fruit and vegetable isle where I was confronted with a sale on pomegranates. The fruit instantly brought back memories of when I was a child visiting my Great Grandparents house in Taft, California. There house was surrounded with fruit trees, a fig tree and an apricot tree filled up the back yard, and the front yard was dominated by a pomegranate tree. I do not think I actually ate any of the pomegranates off the tree, as a child I preferred the taste of the apricots. Later in my life, after my Grandparents had passed away and the house sold, my middle school teacher brought in pomegranates for the class to taste while we were studying ancient Greece (specifically the story of Persephone and Hades). I greatly enjoyed holding one of the little seed things between the thumb and forefinger and holding it inside my mouth as far back as I could yet still close my mouth. I would then squeeze my fingers together, forcing the seed thing to burst, spraying juice over every square inch of the inside of my mouth. It may sound weird, but try it, it is a very cool sensation and it allows you to extract the juice without having to eat the seed itself.
