Someplace I Have Never Been

Library Elevator:

• Standing and Waiting for the elevator to come down- Made me feel very awkward because the elevator is right by the front desk and I could feel people looking at me thinking "why is she taking the elevator? She isn't holding anything heavy and looks to be completely capable of taking the stairs. She must just be super lazy."
• The elevator is very large for only one person- It is a very empty space with minimal decoration except for all the shiny metal side panels.
• Very short elevator ride- Made me think "why didn't I just take the stairs? I didn't need this elevator."
• The elevator is poorly lit.
• Someone joined me on the way back down on the second floor. Silence.
• When I reemerged from the elevator on the bottom floor- People around defiantly recognized me as just going up and coming back down for apparently no reason.
• I felt very silly.
